Agapeland Christian Academy established in 1989 is an urban private Christian school located in central Bakersfield, California. ACA offers a quality Christian education in a warm friendly safe environment. We believe our school is mandated to meet the needs of children who are facing academic, social and spiritual delimiting factors. Agapeland Christian Academy is designed to be a dynamic multi-cultural, family oriented, evolving school. Agapeland’s goal is to make quality education available to students who would not otherwise be able to afford a private education.

Agapeland Christian Academy, formerly Agapeland Christian Child Care, was founded by the late Pastor Ted M. Johnson and his wife Martha L.Johnson. The late Pastor Ted M. Johnson was a high school teacher and counselor in the Kern High School District for 12 years before becoming Senior Pastor of Bakersfield Compassion Christian Center. Mrs. Martha L. Johnson served as an elementary teacher in the Bakersfield City School District for 32 years until her retirement in 2000. Together, with the governing board, they laid the foundation Agapeland builds on today, 32 years later.  In 1991, Agapeland Christian Child Care became Agapeland Christian Academy. Eight years later, Agapeland would embark upon private elementary education starting with one Kindergarten class with the aspiration of adding a grade level each year.

Agapeland currently serves pre-school students ages 2-5 years, academy students K- 6th and Before/After school ages 6–12 years. Students from Agapeland Christian Academy have gone on to live successful lives by completing college, serving their country, establishing their own businesses, and playing professional sports to name a few.
